Over 50 guitars are located in the Guitar Gallery: The Quest for Volume within the Museum of Pop Culture. One of them is a 1997 Moses KP-4 bass guitar. A nearby placard reads:
A new generation of uprights brings basses full circle
In recent years several companies have pushed to revive the idea of an electric upright bass.
Stephen Mosher and his staff at Moses, Inc., in Eugene, Oregon,
are designing some very innovative instruments. This highly ergonomic KP-4 bass uses a one-piece graphite neck. Because of their ability to transmit sound waves, graphite composites are a fine stand-in for wood--and far more durable. Moses' air-coupled sensor pickups capture a natural bass tone without feedback--an important feature that has won over a lot of bass players.
