1920"Henry Sydney Charles Peyton: Henry is recorded on the CWGC website as being buried at Fouquescourt British Cemetary in France but his mother eventually brought his body home. The register of graves for the Fouquescourt cemetery states this about Henry: PEYTON, Lt Col. Henry S C, MC. Commanding 2nd Bn The Rifle Brigade. Killed in action 24th March 1918. Age 26. Born in Oxfordshire. Son of Sir Algernon Peyton, 6th Bart., and Lady Peyton of Delaford Manor, Iver Bucks. I. E. I
Family Background: Henry was the youngest son of Sir Algernon Francis. Peyton, the sixth Baronet, and Lady Ida Peyton, aged 55 and 43 respectively on the 1911 census. Sir Algernon and Lady Ida have been married 23 years and have produced 3 children all of whom were still living in 1911. Their occupations are given as "private means". Henry is listed on the census without his middle names/initials. Also at home at Swifts House with Henry and his parents are his sister Dorothy, aged 18 and single, and 7 servants. Henry was born on 23 November 1891, He had an older brother, Algernon Thomas Peyton born on 4 January 1889, not at the family home in 1911. Henry had already joined the Rifle Brigade and his rank is given as 2nd Lieutenant. His father was born in Secundarabad India, and his mother in North Leigh, Oxfordshire.
His father, Sir Algernon Francis Peyton, born 4 January 1889, died two years before Henry's death and was buried in our churchyard on 15 April 1916. His mother, Ida Fanny, lived on until 1938 and was buried, aged 70, on 14 June 1938. , His brother, Algernon Thomas became the 7th baronet and was buried at Stoke Lyne on 17 March 1962, aged 73 and shares his grave with his wife Joan Stratford Peyton, age 77, who was buried on 27 April 1970. Henry's sister Dorothy May Peyton was buried on 6 April 1966 aged 73."
