In June of 1987, Canada was host to an international philatelic exhibition called CAPEX ’87. The show took place from June 13-21 in the Metropolitan Toronto Convention Centre. Earlier that year, Canada Post had issued a stamp promoting the show which featured the old post office building in Toronto. Just before the show opened, they issued three additional stamps continuing the theme of post office buildings from across Canada. The three lucky post offices were Battleford, Saskatchewan, Saint-Ours, Quebec and this small building in Nelson-Miramichi, New Brunswick.

The Nelson-Miramichi post office opened in 1926 and, according to Canada Post, is a standardized architectural design that appears with few variations in many communities across Canada.
