On the south side of Main Street/Highway 191 at Wallace Avenue, we noticed the
Milwaukee Road sign painted on the front of this building and stopped to take some photos, just in case it proved to be interesting. Looking down, we saw this benchmark disc. As yet we don't know much about the building, other than the fact that it was, indeed, a Milwaukee Road freight station and is now home to Empire Building Materials Inc.
The benchmark is in the north wall, which is concrete from bottom to top, about 3 feet east of the corner and about 2 feet above the sidewalk.
