"Originally a Chapel of Ease for Ashbourne stood on this site but this became derelict and was demolished in the 18th century.

Holy Trinity was built in 1845 by H.I. Stevens and the apse and bell tower were added in 1868 by Slater & Carpenter. Its lychgate, on the Church view side, is quite special - presumably also designed by Stevens, it has its own little tower, with a bellcote, topped with a small wooden spire, and there is a clock in the gable end of its steeply-sloping roof."
