There is a brown section on the left-hand side of the information sign here at Knott's Siding, which describes the following trails.

Trail Description
The Walhalla Railway Reserve multi=purpose trail can be divided into three sections:-

1. Thomson Station to Platina (at the Coopers Creek Road)
This section is the most difficult, but probably the most interesting. The view across the Thomson Valley are beautiful. It is a steady climb from Thomson to Platina. Close to Thomson, there are two old bridge sites and a track has been built around these obstacles. Whilst good for walkers, this section is unsuitable for horses or cyclists.

Distance: 2.5 km; Time: 50 minutes one way; Difficulty: Moderate

2. Platina to the Tyers-Walhalla Road (Knotts Siding)
The trail from Platina to the Tyers-Walhalla Road (Knott's Siding) is suitable for both horses and cyclists. The trail climbs gradually until it reaches the highest point on the old Moe to Walhalla Railway at the Tyers-Walhalla Road. Look out for Lyrebirds and Black Brush Wallabies along this section.

Distance: 4.5 km; Time: 1 hour 10 minutes one way; Difficulty: Easy

3. Knott's Siding to Erica
From the Tyers-Walhalla Road to Erica, the trail leaves the alignment of the old railway in parts, but it is an easy walk and suitable for both horses and cyclists. There is a slow descent to Jacobs Creek then a steep grade upwards to Erica. Jacobs Creek was the site of a very high and complex timber trestle bridge. The bridge was demolished by Army engineers in the 1960's and its replacement poses a major obstacle to reopening the railway all the way to Erica.

Distance: 2.75 km; Time: 40 minutes one way; Difficulty: Easy
