FR La peste sévit à Pierrelatte du 21 août 1629 au mois de mars 1631. A cette occasion, les Pierrelattins font vœu d’ériger une chapelle à Saint-Roch, un de saints les plus invoqués pour ce type d’épidémie. Dès 1631, elle est érigée avec cimetière attenant sur le terrain où avaient été inhumées les victimes de cette épidémie.

Mais la dévotion à Saint-Roch se développant, elle est reconstruite en 1643 et sera de nouveau très utile lors de la peste de 1652.
EN The plague was raging at Pierrelatte on August 21, 1629, in March 1631. On this occasion, the Pierrelattins vowed to erect a chapel at Saint-Roch, one of the saints most invoked for this type of epidemic. In 1631, it was erected with an adjoining cemetery on the ground where the victims of this epidemic had been buried.

But devotion to Saint-Roch developing, it was rebuilt in 1643 and will again be very useful during the plague of 1652.
