This was the first synagogue built in Western Australia. The foundation stone was laid by Elias Solomon, JP, MP, Federal member for Fremantle, in 1902. In 1908 the most of the congregation had moved to Perth and the the Synagogue was rented to commercial interests before being sold in 1922. In 1932, brick additions to the front of the synagogue were completed, blocking a view of the building from South Tce.
