In 2014, 1219Creative, an art gallery, decided to commission a mural on the north side of their building at 1219/1221 N. Classen. After reviewing ten artists who responded to the call, they chose Native American artist, Yatika Fields who is Cherokee/Creek/Osage. The mural he created is an eye-opener. Using bright primary colors, the mural spans 140 feet and is 11 feet high.
It is a mixture of swirls and images that is difficult to describe. Every time one looks at a different portion of the mural, one discovers a new image - or is it. The eyes can play tricks and when you think you've identified something, it blends into the background and you think you've just imagine it. Quite an amazing mural.
