This commemorative and interactive work sundial links Perth to Amsterdam, it shows the time in Perth where de Vlamingh landed in Western Australia and the time at the Mourning Tower in Amsterdam – the location from where the captain and his crew set off on the expedition to Western Australia .
Willem de Vlamingh named various Western Australia locations, including Rottnest Island and the Swan River.
The sundial was moved from it's previous location in 2012 due to redevelopement of the area and relocated here in August 2017.
The gnomon is in the form of a ship's sail, close-by is a correction graph
