Located at the corner of Pacific Coast Highway and Main Street and in front of a shopping complex known as Pierside Pavilion is a corner plaza known as the 'Surfers' Hall of Fame.' It contains a life-size statue of Duke Kahanamoku made of bronze and standing on a concrete plinth. Duke Kahanamoku is considered by many to be the 'Father of Modern Surfing.' Surrounding the statue are concrete squares with some containing handprints and footprints of famous surfers, along with their names inscribed into the concrete. There are also bronze plaques containing names of surfing legends and the year they were inducted into the Surfers' Hall of fame.
