The church was built between 1186 and 1240. It was reorganized several times (until the 19th century by Viollet-le-Duc) and enlarged in particular to accommodate the crowd of pilgrims attracted by the relics of St. Lawrence O'Toole, Irish Archbishop who died in 1181 in Eu.
At the beginning of the eleventh century, the Counts of Eu founded a collegiate church. In 1119, it became an abbey.
The church underwent the fires of 1426 and 1475 that touched the city of Eu. In the course of its history, it passes from the Congregation of Saint-Victor, then of Sainte-Genevieve of Paris.
The monastic buildings leaned against the church. But they were destroyed at the French Revolution. She welcomed the sepulcher of St. Lawrence, then that of the Counts of Eu, as well as illustrious persons in the crypt finished in 1186.
Latin-cross plan building. A nave and its aisles, crossed by a transept and ending a polygonal apse surrounded by its radiant chapels.
The bell tower and its arrow, both polygonal, are located at the crossing of the transept.
Access is via the western façade and a porch on the south side.

L’église fut construite entre 1186 et 1240. Elle fut plusieurs fois remaniée (jusqu'au XIXe, par Viollet-le-Duc) et agrandie notamment pour pouvoir accueillir la foule des pèlerins attirés par les reliques de saint-Laurent O'Toole, archevêque irlandais mort en 1181 à Eu.
Au début du XIe siècle, les comtes d'Eu fondent une collégiale. En 1119, elle devient une abbaye.
L'église subit les incendies de 1426 et 1475 qui touchent la ville d'Eu. Au cours de son histoire, elle passe de la Congrégation de Saint-Victor, puis de Sainte-Geneviève de Paris.
Les bâtiments monastiques s’appuyaient contre l’église. mais ils furent détruits à la Révolution française. Elle acueilla la sépulture de Saint-Laurent puis celle des comtes d'Eu, ainsi que d'illustres personnes dans la crypte terminée en 1186.
Édifice de plan en croix latine. Une nef et ses bas-côtés, qu'entrecoupe un transept et que termine une abside polygonale entourée de ses chapelles rayonnantes.
Le clocher et sa flèche, tous les deux polygonales, se situent à la croisée du transept.
L'accès se fait par la façade occidentale ainsi qu'un porche sur le côté sud.
