Friedrichshafen ist nach Konstanz die zweitgrößte Stadt am Bodensee.Friedrichshafen entstand 1811 aus der ehemaligen Reichsstadt Buchhorn (von der sie das Wappen übernahm) durch Zusammenschluss mit dem nahen Dorf und Kloster Hofen an derselben Bodensee-Bucht. Im Jahr 2011 feierte Friedrichshafen seinen 200. Geburtstag.


Nach der Zerstörung der Altstadt wurde 1940 ein Neubau des Rathauses geplant. In den Jahren 1954-1956 entstand das Neue Rathaus nach den Plänen der Stuttgarter Architekten W. Tiedje und L. H. Kresse am 1940 vorgesehenen Standort. Die Einweihung erfolgte am 23.9.1956. Es steht heute auf dem neu gestalteten Alexanderplatz mit dem Buchhornbrunnen und der St. Nikolauskapelle.

After the destruction of the old town was 1940 a new construction of the town Hall planned. in the years 1954-1956 was the new town Hall in accordance with the plans of Stuttgart architects W. tiedje and L. H. Cress at the 1940 provided location. the inauguration was carried out on 23.9.1956. It is today on the redesigned alexanderplatz with the buchhornbrunnen and the St. Nikolauschapel.

Friedrichshafen is the second largest city on Lake Constance after Constance. Friedrichshafen was built in 1811 from the former Reichsstadt Buchhorn (from which it took over the coat of arms) by merger with the nearby village and monastery Hofen on the same Lake Constance. In 2011 Friedrichshafen celebrated its 200th birthday.
