Montezuma Well is a unit of the Montezuma Castle National Monument in Rimrock, Arizona. The well is a large sink hole containing 15 million gallons of water and releasing 1.5 million gallons per day. The water is released through a swallet or crack in the side of the well. It takes the water 7 minutes to seep out from the well. Growing at the swallet, where the water is channeled into an ancient canal, this giant Sycamore has a spread of 120 feet. The sign notes that with enough water these trees will have a significant life span. The well has been flowing consistently through geological time. The tree has done well.
