In Peacham, on the summit of Owl's Head, is this stone fire tower, built by the CCC in 1935.

Owl's Head is within the Groton State Forest. If you want to drive, from VT Route 232, take the entrance to the New Discovery State Park, then drive up the access road to a parking lot, then walk up a short distance to the summit. The structure is at the top.

The octagonal structure is made of stone sides and a conical wood roof. On each side is a large window and one door opening.

A bit further is a sign that states this "stone lookout . . . was constructed by the CCC in 1935." A document on the park web site lists several locations where the CCC built items on this hill. This includes not only the tower, but a set of stone stairs on the way up and a picnic pavilion by the parking area.
