Village clock in the gable end of the lychgate of Holy Trinity church, Clifton.
Black plate metal face with white roman nunmerals and hands.
A plaque below the clock reads:
To the Glory of God and in memory of
John Herbert Smith
this clock was given by F. Clifton Smith
to Holy Trinity church, Sep.21, 1924."Holy Trinity was built in 1845 by H.I. Stevens and the apse and bell tower were added in 1868 by Slater & Carpenter. Its lychgate, on the Church view side, is quite special - presumably also designed by Stevens, it has its own little tower, with a bellcote, topped with a small wooden spire, and there is a clock in the gable end of its steeply-sloping roof."
