On May 21, 2001, the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery was opened in Agawam, MA on land donated by a local farmer, Edward Squazza. It contains 61 acres of hilly, landscaped, terrain located in the middle of a suburban area. It currently contains the graves of about 10,000 veterans and their spouses.
The non-denominational chapel is locate next at the top of the long driveway as you enter the cemetery, next to the administrative offices. A military ceremony is held inside the chapel prior to each interment for a veteran or their spouse or at the request of a deceased veterans family. A religious ceremony is also held at the request of the family.
