[FR] L'octroi était une taxe perçue par les municipalités sur les marchandises rentrant dans leur commune. Cette taxe était prélevée aux barrières d'entrée du territoire communal. Ces barrières étaient agrémentées de pavillons d'octroi comme on peut le voir.
Cette taxe à donner naissance à l'expression : Accorder quelque chose à quelqu'un, le lui concéder (d'un supérieur à un subordonné ou comme une faveur) : Le directeur a octroyé une prime au personnel.
