The St Martin church on the border of Auvergne and Bourbonnais is the most remarkable element of the Route of the Painted Churches.

The parish of Jenzat belonged to the former diocese of Clermont. At the end of the 11th century, a priory was added to the cure.

The construction of the church dates from the 11th century to the 15th century. The church of Jenzat is one of the richest in murals in the department of Allier.

The charm of this small church, built in the capital of the lutherie, resides in its pretty naive frescoes, realized in the 15th century, depicting the ravages of the black plague in the 14th century and the Passion of Christ.

Its main attraction is its 15th century wall paintings.
