Site of a 5in Spigot Mortar from WWII on White Hart Street, Thetford.
"World War Two Spigot Mortar emplacement. Integrated into a wall bordering on Whitehart Street. Placed to cover the junction with Croxton Road. The concrete pedestal is hexagonal rather than round and has also been concreted into the nearby wall, most likely to create a fixed field of fire for the mortar."

The plaque reads:
In the corner of this garden is a large block of
concrete with a bright steel pin in it. These
concrete blocks can be found all around
Thetford and were mountings for 5" mortars
They formed part of the town's defences in
WW2 when the threat of a German
invasion was very real.
