This sign reads:
"This Reserve is home to a variety of plants, animals and birds. Many use this area for feeding, for nesting and to hide from predators.

"When water levels are high. both plants and animals enjoy the food and water available Plants produce seed and increase their density. Birds build nests in the trees and long grasses. When water levels are low, wading birds can be seen foraging for food amongst the reeds and grasses. The frogs start calling for mates.

"Many birds live in and visit this place including: Pelicans, White-faced Herons, Wood Ducks, Black Ducks, Grey Teal, Chestnut Teal and Purple Swamphen. Smaller birds include Blue Wren, Reed-warblers, Latham's Snipe and the Golden-headed Cisticola. Occasionally Black-shouldered Kites hover overhead.

"If you are quiet, you may see some of these birds…
* White Face Heron - Approx. 65cm
* Clamorous Reed-Warbler - Approx. 17cm
* Blue Wren - Approx. 14cm
* Purple Swamphen - Approx. 46cm
* Latham's Snipe - Approx. 26cm
* Pacific Black Duck - Approx. 55cm

Depending on the weather you may have water lapping under your feet, or like when I was there in May, 2016, it may be a billabong of dry rushes that are home to the local birds. There is a broad wooden railing around this section of wooden boardwalk - great for steadying your camera.
