FR C'est sur l'esplanade du château de Lacoste que l'on trouve cette oeuvre,"Le Marquis de Sade", en accord avec ce lieu.

Le marquis de Sade y séjourna de 1769 à 1772, entre le scandale d'Arcueil et celui de Marseille, puis après celui-ci et sa fuite en Italie, s'y réfugia jusqu'à son incarcération au donjon de Vincennes en 1777. Évadé lors de son transfert à Aix, il s'y réfugiera une dernière fois du 16 juillet au 7 septembre 1778 avant d'être reconduit à Vincennes.

Le marquis sulfureux ayant séjourné dans le château entre deux incarcérations et y vivant sans doute reclus, l'oeuvre le présente les bras croisés, en position d'attente, mais la tête dans une cage.
EN It is on the esplanade of the castle of Lacoste that one finds this work, "Le Marquis de Sade", in agreement with this place.

The Marquis de Sade stayed there between 1769 and 1772, between the scandal of Arcueil and that of Marseilles, after which he fled to Italy and took refuge there until his incarceration at the donjon of Vincennes in 1777.
