Mama Blaster's third great-grandfather Andrew homes was a private in the 31st Louisiana Infantry of the Confederate Army. He died in hospital number 2 before the siege of Vicksburg began, and is buried at the Confederate Cemetery near the Military Park. During the battle Vicksburg and in the campaign leading up to it the 30 first Louisiana as part of Baldwin's brigade, Smith's division.
This gray granite monument with bronze plaque serves as a regimental monument for the 17th Louisiana and 31st Louisiana Confederate infantry units. The monument is located along Confederate Drive at Vicksburg National Military Park in Vicksburg Mississippi.
