Old Elgin Cemetery is located on 8th Street (Highway 17) as you come into town from the east. It is located amid the public school complex with the football field to the east and several school buildings to the west.
We saw no sign for the cemetery. There are two entrances on the north of the cemetery, and one on the east. Gravel drives make their way around the east-south-west perimeter, with a north-south drive at the center.
We noted headstones dating back to the very early turn of the 20th Century, up to the present. There are currently 679 burials here.
