The "Totenleuchte" is located at the "Heilig-Kreuz-Kirche" in Bonn-Limperich.

These kind of shrines, because of their form in traditional language called "ladle", have been developed from the older death lights. The niche was originally intended to receive a light, later the niche was decorated with reliefs or statues.
The year of creation of the shrine is estimated on the time around 1500. Around 1858, the death light must still have stood in the nearby Rhenusallee in the same district. In the niche of the death light is now a not quite style-appropriate representation of the lamb of God.
