An unusual 9/11 monument is located on a village green at Routes 10/202 and 20 - Salmon Brook Street and East Granby Road, Granby, CT.

The events of September 11, 2001 are so ingrained in the memory of Americans that the Town of Granby created a monument without using any words, just images and numbers.
A 4' by 3' by 1' granite block rests on a 5' by 3' by 1' granite base. The block is incised with a pair of rectangles representing the twin towers of the World Trade Center in New York City which were flown into by airliners hijacked by Al-Qaeda terrorists - American Airlines Flight 11 and United Airlines Flight 175. The rectangles are superimposed over a pentagon representing the Pentagon Building in Arlington, VA which was attacked by American Airlines Flight 77 that was hijacked by Al-Qaeda terrorists. The numbers 9 and 3 appear on either side of the rectangles representing United Airlines Flight 93 that was hijacked by Al-Qaeda terrorists and went down in Somerset County, PA.
