Christ the King Chapel is the chapel of Mercyhurst University in Erie, PA. Mercyhurst was founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1926. The cornerstone for Christ the King Chapel was laid in 1932, and the Chapel opened in 1933. Since then it has been used for worship by the campus community. The chapel is known for the beautiful mural that adorns the sanctuary, and, since its founding, the only changes that have been made are the removal of the communion rail and the addition of a freestanding altar. Masses are celebrated in the chapel every Sunday and most weekdays.
