This bronze statue of Andrew Jackson occupies a place of honor in a landscaped yet neglected brick and fountain Plaza on the west side of the Old Jackson City Hall building in downtown Jackson, Mississippi.

Jackson is wearing his US Army General Officer dress uniform, with epaulets, lace at his throat, and a high collared jacket with buttons up the front. He wears a leather belt with a round eagle belt buckle, fitted pants, and army boots. The boots appear to be covered by buckled leggings, or they could be high boots with buckles at the ankles. His left hand appears to be resting gently on the end of his sheathed officer's sword, which is pointing downward with its point resting near his left boot. He wears heavy formal gloves on his hands. His gloved right hand is curled, resting on his hip. The statue appears to be a bit larger than life size.

The statue if placed on a plinth of concrete with a bronze plaque affixed to it as follows:

"ANDREW JACKSON
THE CITY OF JACKSON WAS NAMED IN HONOR OF ANDREW JACKSON
SOLDIER, STATESMAN, AND 7TH PRESIDENT
OF THE UNITED STATES

Sculptress Katherine Rhyes Speed
Dedicated January 29, 1972"
