The Congleton Road Community Centre has been providing facilities for the local community for many years.
'Until 2002 it belonged to the W.R.V.S. whose main purpose was to provide "Meals on Wheels" to the community as well as providing a meeting place for various groups.
When the W.R.V.S. decided to sell the centre, several members of the user groups decided they needed to retain their facilities and formed a committee of Trustees, they applied and obtained "Registered Charity" status, and set about raising a considerable amount of money to purchase the centre which now belongs to the community.' The centre holds weekly activities that include Whist drives, Petanque or "Boules", Table tennis, Luncheon club,T.W.G. Craft class and "Vicky's Respite" classes for people with learning difficulties.
Butt Lane Petanque Club.
Playing sessions - Tuesday and Friday 1.30 - 4.30pm. Visitors are welcome for a fee of £2 for hire of boules and refreshments.
