The Kings Mill Covered Bridge is a Pratt truss, built in 2016. It is on St. James Rd just south of Whetstone River Rd. It was built by R.G. Zachrich Construction of Defiance, for $3.2 million.
The bridge design has a mix of features from three bridges in Union County, and has a basic structure similar to the Mill Creek Bridge near Ostrander in Delaware County, with asphalt paving over a wooden deck and glue laminated wooden supports, tongue and groove cedar shingle side panels and a steel roof design to look like shakes. Steel rods laced throughout the structure maintains the tension of the sides, which will afford open views to the river.
Current Condition of Bridge: excellent
