The church of Saint-Maclou is dedicated to a Breton saint also named Malo. The construction of this church, considered by art historians as a jewel of flamboyant Gothic art, began in 1437.
It has a famous portal with 5 porches adorned with magnificent carved wooden doors dating from the Renaissance. The church has interesting furnishings: a gothic flamboyant staircase, a beautiful Renaissance organ cabinet, a bow of glory and baroque confessionals from the 18th century.
After more than 60 years of obscurity and silence, the restoration of the spire and the Lantern Tower of Saint-Maclou Church has been completed. Seriously damaged during the war, in April 1944, only temporary repairs had been made to the church.
In addition to the recoveries of stone, altered or disappeared, the work of the lantern tower resulted in the restoration of the provisional interim device: a delicate operation consisting of an invisible prosthesis allowing the strapping of the tower in several levels. They also allowed the reopening of the 8 bays of the tower previously blocked by wood and brick.
Before the work, the vertical defect and the stability of the boom were checked. Numerous occasions of stone but also a cleaning of the siding and a joining were carried out. In addition, the belfry and the chamber of the bells have benefited from consolidation works which enable Mary, Adrienne, Adele, Joséphine and Léontine, the five bells of the church to be now safely sheltered in a lantern tower resurrected.

L'église Saint-Maclou est dédiée à un saint breton nommé aussi Malo. La construction de cette église, considérée par les historiens d'art comme un joyau de l'art gothique flamboyant, a débuté en 1437.
Elle possède un célèbre portail à 5 porches ornés de magnifiques portes en bois sculptées datant de la Renaissance. L'église possède un mobilier intéressant : un escalier gothique flamboyant, un très beau buffet d'orgue Renaissance ainsi qu'un arc de gloire et des confessionnaux baroques du XVIIIe siècle.
Après plus de 60 ans d'obscurité et de silence, la restauration de la flèche et de la Tour Lanterne de l'église Saint-Maclou est achevée. Gravement endommagée pendant la guerre, en avril 1944, seules des réparations provisoires avaient été faites sur l'église.
Outre les reprises de pierre, altérées ou disparues, les travaux de la tour lanterne ont permis la reprise du dispositif confortatif provisoire : une opération délicate consistant en une mise en place de prothèses invisible permettant le cerclage de la tour en plusieurs niveaux. Ils ont aussi permis la réouverture des 8 baies de la tour jusque là obturée par du bois et de la brique.
Avant les travaux, le défaut de verticalité et la stabilité de la flèche ont été vérifiés. De nombreuses reprises de pierre mais également un nettoyage des parements et un rejointement ont été effectués. Par ailleurs, le beffroi et la chambre des cloches ont bénéficié de travaux de consolidation qui permettent à Marie, Adrienne, Adèle, Joséphine et Léontine, les cinq cloches de l'église d'être désormais abritées, en toute sécurité, dans une tour lanterne ressuscitée.
