Located along the interpretive trail at the Mirabeau B. Lamar Homestead Park and Archeological Reserve are several informative signs detailing the history of this area and the Lamar Family.

Pioneer Artifacts
The age of some artifacts found at this site suggest that occupancy may date from the late 1830s. Household items include fragments of ceramic dishes, sewing thimbles, and buttons made from of porcelain and brass. Two musical instruments known as Jew’s harps were also found. Other items include two brass frames for 1850s “ambrotype” photographs, lead rifle balls, a partial gun powder flask, numerous 58 caliber musket balls, 3 gold-plated flat buttons and a light artillery button manufactured for the Republic of Texas Army in 1840.
