Although the school was established in 1833 the present building was not constructed until 1866 and is the oldest continuously operating, purpose
built government school in the state, designed by Richard Roach the original comprised seperate classrooms and playground for the boys and girls, teacher's accomodation of lounge.sitting room and bedroom, subsequent additions were made over the years.
