Lee Hall is located in Newport News, Virginia, along Yorktown Road. The building, built in 1859 was the plantation home of Richard Decatur Lee. The building was used as a Headquarters by Confederate generals during the Peninsula Campaign of 1862. Earthen fortifications still exist on the property that were used for Confederate hot-air balloons on April 17th, 1862. After a brief battle the site was abandoned by the Confederates as the retreated west towards Richmond on May 4th, 1862.
Today the site is open to the public as a museum. Admission is $8 for adults.'
