The height of the original Manly Trigonometrical Station is engraved in the brass plate on the stone block at the Beacon Hill "Governor Phillip Lookout".

The square brass orientation plate on the sandstone block was placed there by the Manly, Warringah and Pittwater Historical Society in 1929. On the north eastern corner of it is the following inscription:

"Manly Trigonometrical Station
Established December 1881
This plate is 492 ft. above Sea Level"
