This Orientation Table on Echo Point, picks up from Kings Tableland directly behind the ICONIC Three Sisters, on the left-hand side [southeast], with information and a simple line drawing of the vista, through to the Gangarang Range in the south [right-hand side].
Places mentioned, and shown are:
* Kings Tableland: Known as "Muggadah" to the Gundugurra people, the sandstone cliffs of Kings Tableland form the eastern side of the Jamison Valley - "Godoomba."
* The Three Sisters: The eroded ridge formation of the Three Sisters is part of the Seven Sisters and has profound spiritual significance for Aboriginal people.
* Kedumba Valley: The Kedumba Valley was visited by Gurangatch and Mirragan [indigenous tribes] in the Dreamtime and farmed bu the Maxwell family from the 1880's.
* Mt Gibraltar: Mount Gibraltar ("The Gib") at 863 m, is the highest point in the Southern Highlands. The nearby town of Bowral derives its name from the Aboriginal name for the mountain.
* Mt Solitary: Mt Solitary (4km away) was known as
* Coxs River: All the rivers in the valley below flow into Coxs River, which has been dammed downstream for Sydney's water supply.
* Gangarang Range: Mt Cloudmaker is the highest point of the Gangarang Range.
Recommend that you come on a sunny day, as the view is STUNNING.
Back in the 1970's and 80's I had hiked the Kings Tableland, and in the 1980's abseiled from a valley above where the middle of the Three Sisters is shown in the panoramic shot of the Orientation Table, into the Kedumba Valley. Each of the places identified I have hiked to over the years.
