Mount Colden used to have a survdy marker at it's summit, but I was vandalized (stolen). The drill mounting has been augmented by a triangle anf the word "PEAK" etched into the stone.

Mount Colden is the 11th highest of the Adirondack 46 High Peaks. I can be approached three ways:
1) a fairly easier path from ADK Loj, through Marcy Dam, Avalanche Lake Trail to Lake Arnold Trail to Mt Colden trail,
2) a challenging trail from Lake Colden that ascends 1950' in the span of 1 mile. Thia approach can be reached via several trails to Lake Colden from the south, or through Avalanche Pass from ADK Loj (which mkaes a challenging climb even more challenging, or
3) Trap Dike. This is a Class Four climb, accessible via Avalanche Pass or Lake Colden.
