Constable Harold H. Dent spent all of his life an career in Eastern Ontario, serving as an Ontario Provincial Police Constable until he was murdered in the line of duty at the Navan train station on June 20, 1940.
On that morning, Constable Dent responded to a call about a "suspicious character" asking for directions to the Navan railway station. When approached by Constable Dent, the man produced a .45 Colt automatic and fired twice, striking Dent in the right arm and abdomen.
During his years of service with the OPP, Constable Dent received four commendations for efforts in 2 break, enter and thefts, a murder conspiracy and an armed robbery.
