In St. Johnsbury, at Railroad Depot, are the municipal offices for St. Johnsbury.
The building is located off Railroad Street, in the downtown section. From U.S. Route 2 approaching the center from the east, turn south onto Railroad Street and go a short distance to the depot on the left at 51 Depot Square.
The former depot, now the Pomerleau Building, is a brick structure 2 1/2 stories tall, with a peaked shingled roof. The main entrance is toward Railroad Street. There are several additions, including the latest, more modern looking one at the south end.
St. Johnsbury is a small community with 7600 people. It was settled in 1786 and chartered in 1790. The government form is Town Selectboard, which is usually an elected body. Other departments have offices here, as well.
