I would think that at one stage the concrete pedestal had been painted white (and the perforated vanes painted black), but it is now a muddy colour; and the vanes have no paint left on them, though the plastic post has a small amount of black paint.
Ducks Ridge Road runs to the south and west of the trig, quite a bit below the trig, so it is a not so long, but tough walk through knee-high kikuyu grass to the trig.
