Mostly well treed and well maintained, the cemetery is a little oasis on what is occasionally an otherwise dry and brown prairie. In the centre of the cemetery is a large map indicating the location of each and every burial here. Nearby is a memorial, a black granite plaque affixed to a stone slab standing upright on a base of concrete. It is dedicated to "All Servicemen and Women Buried in the Lavina Cemetery". On the plaque are listed the names of 39 of these service persons. A further inscription at the bottom of the slab relays the fact that the memorial was donated by Alice and Ronald Hansen in 2004.
