On the south side of Shawnee's Woodland Veterans Park is an extensive Veterans memorial with static displays, and monuments to fallen servicemen and women.

Displayed about 15 feet above ground, this helicopter carries the number 282 and was part of the 282 Assault Helicopter Company of the U.S. in the Vietnam War (Black Cats).

A plaque reads: "Dedicated July 4, 2011 / Woodland Veterans Park / Bell UH-1D "Huey" Helicopter / Donated by Lt. Bob Ford / Shawnee, Oklahoma / Tour of duty July 1967 to July 1968 / 282 Assault Helicopter Company / Call Sign - Black Cat 221 / Vietnam
