"Bonn - Martin Wein, 29.12.2016
Since August the bicycle barometre points at the "Kennedybrücke" how many two-wheeled vehicles have traversed the Rhine on every day and all together since beginning of 2016. [...] However, the project has excited the displeasure of the alliance of the taxpayers. In particular the info place at "Kennedybrücke" makes only visible what is not to be overlooked in view of many cyclists anyway, one says in the December issue of the association magazine "Der Steuerzahler" – namely that many cyclists used the bridge. [...]
The installation of 15 countable loops has cost about 130,000 euros, predominantly financed with tax money of the country North Rhine-Westphalia. The city of Bonn has taken over a contribution from 33,000 euros as well as 20,000 euros for the info stele at "Kennedybrücke". The measuring system can hardly deliver valuable knowledge for the development of the Bonn cycle track net. [...] Therefore, Axel Mörer-Funk of the general German bicycle club Bonn-Rhein/Sieg still wishes clearly more measuring points in the city of Bonn. [...] The data of "Kennedybrücke" as a main sluice in the town would illustrate the development of the bicycle traffic in the future. The costs for it are rather low. The construction of one single passenger car parking lot in the city centre costs the local authority district in the comparison up to 30,000 euros."
