The sign reads:
Opening October 10, 1917, the theater was operated successfully by the Farr family as Mansfield's only movie theater until the death of Roy Farr in 1975. It was sold to Charlotte Martin, who renamed it "Old Bijou Theater." In 1980, it was purchased by St. John Lutheran Church which met here until 1988. It was then sold to the Main Street Theater, Inc., a local theater group, providing entertainment in the form of live theater and stage shows.

Built in 1917 by M. M. Farr, the theater showed silent movies until 1929. It was enlarged in 1936 to double the seating. The building is a registered Mansfield Historic Landmark, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996.
