The mural covers the entire bottom of the interior of the band shell. The central figure is a male musician playing the saxophone. Symbolically, music is flowing from the saxophone over to the left end side of the mural. Below him are a female violinist and a male cello player. On the left side of the mural is a male trombone player and on the right side is a female harpist. Next to the harp a pair of hands is decorating a guitar. All figures are superimposed on a colorful background of flowers, a butterfly and autumn leaves.
A special feature of the Condon Shell is the elaborate music themed mural designed by Yetti Frankel and painted by the Tufts University class of 2005. On the sides of the mural there is a tribute to Lydia Maria Child a Medford resident who wrote the traditional Thanksgiving poem "Over the River and Through The Woods".
