Das alte Kauf- und Danzhaus
Der Florinsmarkt, auf dem das alte Kauf- und Danzhaus steht, war in früherer Zeit der politische und wirtschaftliche Mittelpunkt der Stadt. Das alte Kauf- und Danzhaus bildet zusammen mit der Florinskirche, dem Schöffenhaus und dem Bürresheimer Hof ein Ensemble aus vier historischen Gebäuden, das zu den schönsten Gebäudegruppen der Stadt gehört.
Das alte „Kauf- und Danzhaus“ wurde 1419 im gotischen Stil erbaut und im 17./18. Jahrhundert umgebaut. Dabei erhielt es barocke Elemente. 1944 brannte das Gebäude ab und wurde 1961/62 wieder aufgebaut. Im alten Kauf- und Danzhaus befand sich bis 2012 das Mittelrhein-Museum (seit 2013 im Forum Confluentes).
Unter der 1724 eingebauten Turmuhr ist der „Augenroller“ zu sehen, der seine Augen im Takt des Pendels der Uhr hin und her bewegt und zu jeder vollen und halben Stunde seine Zunge herausstreckt. Er erinnert an den Raubritter Johann Lutter von Kobern, der 1536 auf dem Florinsmarkt hingerichtet wurde. Er soll der Sage nach auf dem Schafott seine Augen verdreht und den Zuschauern die Zunge herausgestreckt haben.
Gleich neben dem alten Kaufhaus wurde 1530 das gotische Schöffenhaus errichtet. Hier tagten die Schöffen des Stadtgerichtes, deren Aufgabe die Überwachung der Münzen und Gewichte gewesen ist. Vor dem Schöffenhaus stand bis ins 18. Jahrhundert der städtische Pranger. 1965 wurde das im Krieg zerstörte Haus rekonstruiert.
Links vom Alten Kaufhaus befindet sich der 1659 erbaute Bürresheimer Hof, der seinen Namen seinen damaligen (1714) Eigentümern, der Familie von Breitbach-Bürresheim, zu verdanken hat.
Im September 2013 hat die GÖRLITZ Stiftung alle städtischen Gebäude rund um den Platz erworben. Das Ensemble am Florinsmarkt soll über alle Gebäude hinweg ein Kultur- und Gästehaus werden."

The old department store and Danzhaus
The Florinsmarkt, on which the old Kauf- und Danzhaus stands, was in earlier times the political and economic center of the city. To the left of the Alter Kaufhaus is the Bürresheimer Hof, built in 1659, which owes its name to its then (1714) owners, the family of Breitbach-Bürresheim.
In September 2013, the GÖRLITZ Foundation acquired all the city buildings around the square. The ensemble at the Florinsmarkt is to be a cultural and guest house across all buildings. "
