Die Herz-Jesu-Kirche wurde 1906 - 1908 erbaut und 1924 zur Pfarrkirche erhoben. An Heiligabend 1944 legte eine Luftmine die neogotische Kirche in Trümmer. In den 50er Jahren wurde diese unter Leitung des Architekten Gottfried Böhm wieder aufgebaut und teilweise umgestaltet. 1975/76 wurde die Herz-Jesu-Kirche vollständig restauriert.
Die Plastik "Ohne Titel" von Ulrich Kuhlmann befindet sich links vor dem Eingangsportal der Herz-Jesu Kirche.
Beschreibung der Plastik
Die Plastik von Ulrich Kuhlmann, der er selbst keinen Titel gab, besteht aus zwei Teilen. Diese sind ohne Sockel bodengleich angebracht. Ein Teil ist wie eine Leiter mit drei Sprossen gearbeitet und hat die Maße 355 cm / 95 cm / 19 cm. Das andere Teil der Plastik sieht einer "züngelnden Flamme" ähnlich und ist mit den Maßen 295 cm / 62 cm / 32 cm etwas kleiner als die "Leiter". Die Oberfläche ist mit einer künstlichen Patinaschicht überzogen und wirkt dadurch "alt". In der Plastik findet sich eine Spannung zwischen der Schwere des Materials und der "Leichtigkeit" der Form hervor. Zum anderen besteht eine Spannung zwischen kantigen Formen der "Leiter" und rundlichen Formen des anderen Elements.
U. Kuhlmann achtet bei seinen gesamten Werken auf natürliche, d.h. auf materialgerechte Oberflächen.
Entstehung der Plastik
Ulrich Kuhlmann bewarb sich mit dieser Plastik um den Euskirchener Kunstförderpreis 1995. Seine Plastik wurde nach Vorlage eines Modells von der Stadt Euskirchen ausgewählt und "angekauft". Ulrich Kuhlmann schweißte die Plastik aus Stahl in entsprechender Form zusammen, danach erzeugte er unter Einsatz von Ammoniumsalzen, Essigsäure, feuchtem Kohlendioxid oder Pflanzensäften eine rostartige Schutzschicht.
Intention/Aussage
Die Leiter ist schwerlich zu besteigen, ist aber auch freistehend, ohne sichtbaren Halt und ohne greifbares Ziel. Eine Parallele zur Gliederung der Kirchenfassade fällt dem suchenden Blick des Betrachter sicher schnell auf, sodass diese Korrespondenz zu einer Aussage führen kann. Dann aber wird die stufenweise aufsteigende Bewegung mit dem zweiten Teil dieser Plastik in Beziehung bzw. in Spannung gebracht, indem hier eine strebend aufsteigend fließende Form den leiterartigen Stufen entgegensteht. Über diese kontrastierenden Formen gelangt man vor der neugotischen Kirchenfassade dazu, Form und Dynamik dieser Plastik ins Religiöse zu transferieren."

"The Church of the Sacred Heart was built in 1906 - 1908 and raised to the parish church in 1924. Description of plastic
Ulrich Kuhlmann's sculpture, to which he himself gave no title, consists of two parts. These are installed without bases on the floor. A part is worked like a ladder with three rungs and measures 355 cm / 95 cm / 19 cm. The other part of the plastic looks similar to a "tingling flame" and is somewhat smaller than the "ladder" with dimensions of 295 cm / 62 cm / 32 cm. The surface is coated with an artificial patina layer and is therefore "old". In plastic, there is a tension between the weight of the material and the "ease" of the form. On the other hand there is a tension between angular forms of the "ladder" and rounded shapes of the other element.
U. Kuhlmann regards all his works to be natural, that is to say. On surfaces which are suitable for the material.
Formation of plastic
Ulrich Kuhlmann applied for the Euskirchen Kunstförderpreis 1995 with this sculpture. His sculpture was selected and "purchased" from the city of Euskirchen after presenting a model. Ulrich Kuhlmann welded the plastic of steel into a corresponding form, then produced a rusty protective layer using ammonium salts, acetic acid, moist carbon dioxide or vegetable juices.
Intention / statement
The ladder is difficult to climb, but it is also free, without any visible support and without a tangible goal. A parallel to the structure of the facade of the church is surely quickly apparent to the viewer's looking eye, so that this correspondence can lead to a statement. But then the gradual ascending movement is brought into relation with the second part of this sculpture, in which a strikingly ascending, flowing form opposes the ladder-like steps. Through these contrasting forms one arrives in front of the neo-gothic church facade to transfer form and dynamics of this sculpture into the religious. "
