Woodland Park and these tennis courts were constructed in 1936-1937 by the WPA. This 8-acre area is an active part of Shawnee recreation.

East of the bathhouse/pool area are two regulation-sized tennis courts, located within a chain link fencing. The courts are slightly lower than the surrounding area, and are enclosed with a WPA-constructed native sandstone retaining wall. The courts are lit at night.

Usually actively in use, we found the courts empty, as we arrived shortly after a downpour. We learned of no cost or reservations needed for the courts, which are available on a first come first served basis.
