New Alexandria, home to about 560 residents, is bisected by the William Penn Highway, US Routes 22 and 119. Route 119 Joins 22 just before crossing the Loyalhanna Creek to the west of town.

The town is part of the Derry Area School District, with students receiving educational services in nearby New Derry.

There is a town library in the town plaza with a handful of other buisnness there including a concvenience store, a Sheetz and a Subway tie-in the commercial district.

The Town also has its own Fire Department with a club, Lions Club, and Historical Society that meets at the library.

New Alex is also home to a Non-Denomonational Congregation as well as United Methodist, Presbyterian, Roman Catholic and Ukrainan Catholic Churches as well.

The Community Hall was built in 1929 and serves a multitude of purposes as it has a multi-purpose room on the first floor, town ffices on the second and the American Legion in the basement. It has a stage and can be rented out by community members as well as clubs of the choosing. Some of the groups that meet in the center include the Center for Active Adults, a local 4-H Club and the Boy Scouts. It also has an veteran's memorial in the front of the building for the community.
