The Crossrail Award for Urban Heritage - Nottingham Hub Project [Network Rail, Nottingham City Council & East Midlands Trains]"The wide appeal of the National Railway Heritage Awards, both geographically and throughout all sections of the railway industry, is maintained this year with our 51 entries: Scotland providing six, Wales three and the Irish Republic one. Entries were received from many private individuals and Friends groups and supporting Trusts, as well as architects, contractors, county and district councils and a parish church, in addition to the expected ranks of heritage railways, train operators and departments of Network Rail. We can never predict where the entries will fall; this year, most surprisingly, London and the South East were fairly bare compared to more distant regions, which gave us something of a challenge when organising the two judging visits to each entry."
